Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about caring for, repairing, keeping or reusing ordinary household belongings. A good proposal gives readers a clear idea to understand or a careful decision to make, without pretending every object has one right answer.

What to propose

Pitch a focused subject with a distinct reader benefit: for example, an explanation of how a familiar material responds to use, a comparison of two care approaches, the background to a repair custom, or a thoughtful route to reusing an object. We value precise scope, plain language and attention to what a reader can safely do without professional assessment.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the working idea, why it matters to a general reader, the main points the piece would cover and what makes your approach different from a broad overview. Note any limits, relevant experience or sources you would draw on, without presenting unsupported claims as settled fact. Avoid pitches that require hazardous work, safety-critical repairs, fabricated testing or advice that depends on local rules.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page, selecting the editorial question option and making clear that the message is a contribution pitch. Include your proposed title, a short outline and a brief introduction to your perspective. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless we have agreed otherwise.

Our point of view

Use well. Keep thoughtfully.

Belongings earn their place through use, not novelty. Lasting Daily Bulletin looks at ways to care for what is already at hand and make considered choices when something no longer serves.
